About Channel Islands Channel Islands Cities Channel Islands Hotels Channel Islands Travel Guide

Channel island climate remains mild for the whole year. Its averaging temperature is 68 degrees Fahrenheit during the peak visitor season from June to September. The distinctive character of channel island climate is very much influenced with the strong oceanic influence. Gulf Stream provides warmness here in climate.

Basically, Channel Island is situated in the latitude of prevailing westerly winds where depressions and their associated fronts like bands of cloud and rain move across the north Atlantic and bringing unsettled and windy weather, especially in winter. Often, between the depressions there are various small mobile anticyclones which bring fair weather period. Associated air stream originate in either cold or warm regions but as it reaches here, it has been modified by the sea. Consequently, even summers in Channel Island are cooler and winters are milder. The effect of stationary anticyclones also can be seen here which often block the passage of depressions and brings prolonged dry, settled weather.
