La Paz

Being the capital city, La Paz Bolivia is the administrative center of the country. Established in the year 1542 and located in the mountainous region of Andes, La Paz is among the chief tourist destination in Bolivia. Altitude of the city varies between 4058 meters (13,313 feet) above sea level in El Alto to 3100 meters (10,170 feet) in the lower residential area; making the city highest capital in the world. The city of La Paz, Bolivia was built in a canyon formed by the Choqueyapu River (, which runs from northwest to southeast. As you go to the southern region of La Paz, you will come across more posh residential areas and affluent people. This includes the region southwest to Prado which make for a great hang out region. Another place that offers excellent entertainment is the streets of calle Sagarnaga or calle Illampu. From museums to vibrant fairs… these street are always buzzing with activities and commotion. 

The best time to visit La Paz is during the months from April to October. This is the time when La Paz receives maximum number of tourists.
