Visa & Passport

Those who are planning for a holiday or a business trip to Australia, they need an Electronic Travel Visa Authority (ETA) before their arrival. The ETA is an electronically stored authority for travel to Australia that allows people from certain countries to visit Australia for up to three months for tourism, short-term business or elective study purposes. An ETA is invisible and therefore will not show up in the passport. Australia Visa is a form of permission for a non-citizen to enter transit or remain in the country.

Like many other countries, Australia too requires travelers to have at least six months validity remaining on their passports.  Immigration authorities may refuse entry if you arrive with less than this. Renew your passport Australia before travel or check with the diplomatic mission of the country concerned in Australia, or your local travel agent, whether this rule applies to them.

Australian Travel Visa Requirements:

• Valid passport for 6 months
• 1 visa application form, completed and signed
• 1-passport type photograph
• Non-U.S. citizens must present a copy of the Green Card or a valid visa back to the U.S.
• Confirmation of travel (onward and return tickets) required
• Evidence of sufficient funds to support your stay in Australia e.g. traveler's checks you have purchased or a current bank statement indicating funds available to you.
• A letter from your employer (on business letterhead with contact details) stating that leave of absence has been granted and that you will be returning to your current job.
• A letter outlining your plans while in Australia. If visiting friends or family, please provide contact name, address and telephone number while in Australia.
